When the past won’t stay in the past
Sometimes a hard experience doesn’t fade the way we expect it to. It stays with us. It shows up in how we react, the things we avoid, the feelings that arrive without warning. And it isn’t only the big, obvious events. Trauma can be anything our mind and body couldn’t fully process at the time.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy that helps the brain go back and process those experiences properly, so they lose their charge and stop pulling you back. A lot of people find it helps when talking alone hasn’t been enough.
I’m trained in EMDR, and I bring it together with somatic and integrative work, because these things live in the body as much as the mind. We go at your pace, always. Nothing gets forced, and you stay in a space that feels safe and steady throughout.
EMDR can help with:
Past trauma, whether it’s a single event or something that built up over time.
Anxiety and panic.
Memories that keep resurfacing.
Low self-worth that traces back to earlier experiences.
Performance anxiety and the blocks that come with it.
I offer EMDR in person at my Notting Hill practice, and online across the UK and beyond.
If you’re curious whether it might help, book a free, confidential call and we’ll talk it through.
